A Milwaukee brewery has one of the best gluten-free beers, according to these awards
Lakefront Brewery is known for appealing to gluten-free customers.
In addition to offering gluten-free beer, Lakefront has an annual Maifest Gluten-Free Spring Festival that includes its own gluten-free cheese curds, as well as other gluten-free food vendors.
Now, the brewery, at 1872 N. Commerce St., is getting national recognition for its original gluten-free beer.
New Grist, a pilsner that Lakefront says in 2005 became the first gluten-free beer approved in the U.S. for production, is No. 4 on the USA TODAY 10Best Readers' Choice Awards list for the best gluten-free beer. New Grist is made with sorghum, malted millet, rice, hops, water and gluten-free yeast.
